Why LinkedIn?


Are you on LinkedIn? Many people mistakenly think LinkedIn is only for people looking for a job or their next big career move. That is understandable since the social media site first began as an enhanced resume service and job search site. But it has since evolved into so much more.

LinkedIn boasts an incredible 660 million users in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, according to company statistics released in January 2020. Nearly half of the total number of LinkedIn users are monthly active users, and it is estimated that more than two new members sign up for LinkedIn every second. That adds up to more than 172,800 unique users every day![1]



LinkedIn is the largest business social media site, so authors and business entrepreneurs can target business professionals. Authors can reach key people at publishing houses, book reviewers, publicists, ghostwriters, editors, and even graphic designers. Business professionals can connect with others in their field and those they may wish to reach out to for their next career move.

Given the increasingly widespread use of social media these days, it should come as no surprise that social networks today have immense influence over a buyer’s purchase decision.

In fact, it is estimated that more than seven out of ten buyers are influenced by social media when deciding to purchase a product or service.

Of all the social networks, LinkedIn seems to have the upper hand. More than half (52-percent) of buyers list LinkedIn as the most influential channel during their research process. This is followed by 42 percent of buyers who list blogs as having the biggest influence on their research.

In general, buyers who rely on social media for their purchase decision do so to get recommendations and opinions and to connect with sellers.[2]


The bottom line is you need to be on LinkedIn, whether you utilize it as part of your sales process or as a free marketing channel for your business. Your competition is there. Can you afford not to be?
